One of the most popular and widespread fast food chain in the world, Subway serves around 320,000 sandwiches each hour, 7.6 million sandwiches every day – enough to feed every person in Los Angeles, Dallas and Chicago combined.

It was started by a teenage boy
The popular sandwich shop was actually started by a 17-year-old Fred DeLuca in 1965 with a $1,000 loan he received from a family friend named Peter Buck.
Subway hosted its own fashion show
Subway hosted its own fashion show after launching “Project Subway in 2013, a New York fashion show and competition detailing Subway-inspired designs from up-and-coming designers.
In 2014, the designers were told to create attire “inspired by vegetables found at Subway restaurants. Meanwhile, they were tasked with creating outfits out of sandwich wrappers, napkins and gift cards in 2013.
The first subway sandwich was mere cents
The first Subway shop opened in Bridgeport, Connecticut by the teenager and was called “Pete’s Super Submarines.” It cost from $0.49 to $0.69. It sold 312 sandwiches on its opening day.
Subway was once sued for its 11-inch “foot-long” subs
Australian teen Matt Corbey posted to Facebook after he measured his sandwich in 2013 and found that his “foot-long” was actually 11 inches. A class action suit was later filed by those complaining about this controversy, and the restaurant agreed to ensure its footlongs are actually a full 12-inches and paid $520,000 in legal fees and $500 to each individual who filed the suit, 10 people in total.
